Ready! Aim! Fire!

That’s the way we’re “supposed” to do it, right?

Get ready…

then aim… (make sure you aim perfectly!) … then (is your aim totally perfect? I mean, you’re definitely going to hit it the first time, right?!?) … then … (Oh, no!! Need to plan some more and really get the calculations right b/c I don’t want to mess this up) …

What happened to firing?!!?

Tragically, if we’re not careful, we’ll easily fall into the dreaded Ready! Aim! Aim! Aim! Aim! Aim! Aim! cycle where we NEVER do anything and spend all of our time preparing and planning and getting ready to fire.

Not so good.

A much better alternative?

Ready! Fire! Aim!

Take a shot. The moment you try something, you have a data point—THEN you can adjust your aim waaaaayyyyyyy more effectively then if you just kept on planning in your head.

So, get ready. FIRE! And then aim.

(I know it’s a little freaky at first but try it. I think you’ll like it.)
