BIG IDEA
#223. Synergy
by Brian Johnson

Synergy is everywhere in nature. If you plant two plants close together, the roots commingle and improve the quality of the soil so that both plants will grow better than if they were separated. If you put two pieces of wood together, they will hold much more than the total weight held by each separately. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. One plus one equals three or more.”

~ Stephen R. Covey from “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”

Synergy.

1 + 1 = 3+.

What a beautiful concept.

The word finds its roots in the Greek sunergos “working together.”

And, as Covey points out as he describes Habit #6 in “Seven Habits,” when we work together, one plus one equals more than two.

That’s amazing.

I know I feel it in my intimate relationship. And have such a deep sense of gratitude for the power of our “working together.”

What synergistic relationship can you be grateful for today?
