BIG IDEA
#418. Single Handling
by Brian Johnson

Do you start and stop all the projects you work on?

You know: Put 15 minutes of work in, get distracted/hit a wall and move on to something else?

Start. Stop. Start. Stop.

Do you realize how much time you waste doing that?

Here’s a tip shared by all the great time management gurus:

--> Single handle EVERYTHING you possibly can.

What’s that mean? Single touch stuff.

DEFINITELY single handle the stuff that takes less than a couple minutes.

If you can reply to an email in < 2 minutes. Do it. (Why would you leave that email in your inbox? Makes no sense. Either delete it or reply to it or quit looking at your inbox if you don’t have the time to quickly get thru it.)

Grab your bills and pay them with a single touch. Don’t get the mail, throw it on the desk, then look at it a few times over a few days, thinking how you should write the check… JUST DO IT.

Set aside blocks of time so you can work uninterrupted on a single project. Turn off the phone, unplug the Internet if you have to.

Single touch.

And watch your productivity explode.
